As we close out 2024 and step into the New Year, it’s a perfect moment to reflect on the incredible journey we’ve shared over the past 12 months. While it’s tempting to charge forward into the excitement of 2025, we want to take a moment to celebrate everything we’ve accomplished together and thank you—the Bruno community—for making it all possible.
This year has been nothing short of extraordinary. What makes it so special is that every milestone we’ve hit is not just a win for Bruno but a collective achievement shared with our users, contributors, and supporters. As an open-source tool, Bruno thrives because of the amazing people who believe in our mission and work alongside us to make it a reality.
There are an endless number of things that could be highlighted, but three areas of growth jump out as being the most impactful: usage, product, and the company.
Privacy is a tenet of Bruno and a reason that many have transitioned to us from other tooling. Due to this we have essentially zero telemetry into utilization outside of overall downloads and number of users. That said, these two stats in part feel like a heartbeat to us as to the success of what we’re building and an indication that we’re doing either the right or wrong things.
In 2024, we hit three massive milestones that provide confidence Bruno is on the right track on our journey to redefine the API client.
These achievements put Bruno in rare air in terms of overall usage, and we couldn’t be more proud and thankful for the support from developers across the globe.
This level of usage also comes with great responsibility and we’re hard at work to ensure we’re supporting everyone using Bruno which is covered in the company growth update below.
Along with the growth in usage, we never could have imagined the number of feature requests, improvements, and of course bug fixes that would be seen over the year. This again could not have been possible without the community using Bruno, and as Bill Gates once said “ Your most unhappy customers are your greatest source of learning.” We wouldn’t be where we are today without the feedback, suggestions, and PRs from our users.

While we’re proud of the speed in which we’re delivering Bruno, we’re committed to building the defacto API client for developers and feel the push to move faster and ship a better product. This will be a significant focus and investment for us in 2025.
The explosion and growth and requirements in terms of product in the past year both live and die by the number of people directly supporting and building it.
We started 2024 with just me running development, product, support, and all of the other aspects that become requirements once your project becomes a product. It became clear very quickly that Bruno couldn’t exist if we didn’t “grow up” a bit and get our act together.

Although we’re still a small team, both the additional horsepower and dedicated team structure allowed us to deliver a number of big features at the end of the year and will result in significant releases during the first part of 2025. We hope to continue growing our team in line with our user and customer base to make sure we’re constantly able to deliver what you’re looking for.
As we reflect on the past year, one thing is clear: none of this would have been possible without you. Your support, feedback, and contributions are the heart of Bruno. Every milestone we’ve reached is a testament to the incredible community that surrounds this project. It’s been an honor and a joy to build Bruno alongside you.
